Music Therapy is the clinical & evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program. Music therapists are trained to address a wide variety of goals across the lifespan, including but not limited to:
Improve communication
Increase movement
Express feelings
Improve memory
Self-expression
And many more

Music therapists work with individuals and groups of all ages and ability levels, and there are no musical abilities needed to benefit from music therapy services.
Who are music therapists?
Music therapists are trained musicians who completed an advanced degree program in music therapy and extensive clinical education to be eligible to sit for the board certification exam. Once board certified, music therapists are required to complete continuing education credits on a 5 year cycle to maintain certification.
